Heyyy, what's happenin'? You've reached the voicemail of one very fine-lookin' man. Wanna chat? Fanboy all over my mad skillz? Declare your undying love for me? You know what to do. [BEEEEP]
[ It isn't much of a surprise that Wade is familiar with this sort of thing. From what she knows, he would be the sort to know how to dress a wound or two. ]
I just - After what I did to you, I didn't... I couldn't do it again.
[ They'd talked about this, she knows, but turns out it was eating her more than she'd let on. That's kind of thing with Rose though as most know by now. It's always half-truths and only the tip of the iceberg with her. ]
[He's not surprised so much as he is disappointed-- not so much in her as in himself. He'd thought he'd made it perfectly clear that what had happened to him was not her fault. Not entirely her fault, anyway. And it wasn't as though his heart couldn't grow back. It had before, multiple times.
He says nothing to her, his eyes fixed on what remains of her arm as he continues his ministrations. After a few seconds of silence, he speaks up, his voice taking on the characteristic low rumble of someone who is about to reveal a deep secret.]
I ever tell you about the time my healing factor stopped working?
[ Even though he had, Rose has a tendency of her thoughts becoming truth. Despite his reassurance, her mind had supplied what was 'real' and that was that all of this was her fault.
Even now she has trouble thinking it's not. ]
... No. [ She knows that he knows he hasn't but she's interested regardless. Rose, more than anyone, understands the importance of opening up and how difficult that can be. ]
[He takes her sullen answer as a sign that she wants to hear it. Which is good, because he probably would have told her anyway. This is something that she needs to hear, like it or not. Wade still isn't all that comfortable giving away pieces of himself like this, but if it could help Rosie in some way, he supposes he could deal with the breach of privacy, just this once.]
Heh. Well then. Strap in for an episode of Story Time with Wade Wilson. [He clears his throat.]
Okay, so. My healing factor'd been on the fritz, like... maybe about five or so years since I first got it? Somethin' like that. Took me hours to grow back my hand once, and by that time I'd already passed out from blood loss at least once.
It was gettin' bad-- I mean, considering my line of work and the people I rubbed shoulders with on a regular basis? I needed that healing factor in good working order. So I went back to the guys who gave me the healing factor in the first place.
[He grins a small, rueful smile without bothering to meet her eyes.] I know what you're thinkin'. It was a stupid thing to do. Didn't have much of a choice, really. Or I thought I didn't, at least.
