Heyyy, what's happenin'? You've reached the voicemail of one very fine-lookin' man. Wanna chat? Fanboy all over my mad skillz? Declare your undying love for me? You know what to do. [BEEEEP]
[Wade's offer might have been clumsily made and stilted, but Al knew the sentiment behind it was solid. Perhaps Wade would make mistakes in the future, and perhaps he would need a long time to learn how to be a good friend, but Al was grateful he was trying. He might not fully know how momentous it was that Wade wasn't simply putting distance between them and running now things have hit a bump in the road, but he knows enough to be grateful.
What happened was always going to hurt, Al couldn't change that. But it was done and in the past; and, if there was one thing that was always true, it was that Al didn't hold a grudge. He wasn't going to give up just because they had an argument, and the warm and enthusiastic tone of his reply should tell Wade that clearly.]
Mmmmm wow, that sounds amazing! I'll definitely add those to my snack list.
[He goes to fish out the little book, before he realises he doesn't have it here in Haven at all, and gives an awkward chuckle instead.]
Or... um, I guess I can't write it down. But I'll remember it and add it to my snack list when I get back home, okay?
[And with that, it's-- well, not exactly okay, but he supposes it's a step in the right direction. The tightness in his chest has lessened somewhat, in any case, and things have become just a little less awkward between them. Wade smiles back, tapping the side of his head.]
Good idea. I'll keep it up here in my own noggin for safekeeping, too. Just in case.
[Along with whatever else I need to do to make things better between us. Wade's mind is already hard at work-- he's not used to giving apology gifts, but he figures there's at least one person he knows here who can give him some advice.]
[He makes a fist with giant metal fingers and pumps the air. Maybe he's not happy altogether, but it's nearly impossible to keep Al down for long without him starting to get upbeat again.]
...I'm glad I came over, I would have hated for it to be strained between us.
Glad you came over, too. Even if I almost screwed it up at the beginning there.
[Wade pauses, his expression momentarily somber.]
I wasn't trying to sweep everything under the rug, y'know. I know it must've seemed like it. But it's just... even though we're pals and all, sometimes I still... I mean, I have trouble...
[He gestures helplessly, trying to articulate what he means before giving up on the pitiful interpretive dance with a sigh.]
Just... I'm not the most talkative person when it comes to serious stuff. I know I'm normally Mister Motormouth, but when stuff like this happens, I... kinda panic. Wanna get away from it, or something.
[A cynical chuckle.]
Maybe that's why not many people wanna hang out with me. Whatever. It was a real dick move. Sorry.
[He's pretty grateful to have an actual apology, however awkward it might be. The words weren't what was important, it was because he could tell Wade was sincere that it helped.]
It is pretty scary when bad things happen, I want to run away too sometimes. But... when I want to run away, I remember that it's facing the scary things that make us stronger.
[Even if Wade was scared of messing up, by trying he would have a stronger friendship than if he ran away.]
[Knowing that Al's willing to give him another chance eases the guilt somewhat. Not by much, but enough that he starts feeling hopeful again. It's a strange feeling-- he's not used to having to mend relationships like this. He's not even used to wanting to.
But he supposes he'll have time those introspective thoughts later. He reaches over and grasps Al's hand in his, patting it warmly with his other hand.]
You're a good guy, Al. 'n I promise to try my hardest not to screw up again. No matter how scared I get. 'kay?
It's okay if you do, people screw up, that's what makes us human. As long as you're trying your hardest and don't let screwing up stop you from trying again, then we're good.
[He squeezes Deadpool's hand tightly in his big metal one, and then gets up.]
I should get back to Brother, he's been worrying a lot since... the store.

[His smile is sheepish.]
...thanks for kicking my ass. In the verbal sense, anyway.

[He chuckles, giving a rather cheesy thumbs up.]
And not just verbally.

Oh, trust me, I know. My jaw's still sore.
Seriously, though. Thanks for always putting up with my stupid ass. See you around later, okay?
